I started looking to see if I could find a miracle associated with the Christmas story in the bible for every day in December. I quickly realized this wouldn't be hard to do. I don't know if you have ever realized all of the miraculous events surrounding the birth of Jesus, but they are numerous. Let's look at one each day of December.
Miracle 31: Warnings
When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route, for God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod. Mathew 2:12
After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother," the angel said. " Stay there until i tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill Him. Mathew 2:14-15
When Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt. " Get up!" the angel said. " Take the child and his mother back to the land of Israel, because those who were trying to kill the child are dead." So, Joseph got up and returned to the land of Israel with Jesus and his mother. But when he learned that the new ruler of Judea was Herod's son Archelaus, he was afraid to go there. Then, after being warned in a dream, he left for the region of Galilee. So, the Family went and lived in a town called Nazareth. This fulfilled what the prophets had said: " He will be called a Nazarene." Mathew 2: 19-23
The birth of Jesus was miraculous from start to finish. Started with promises and ends with warnings. So, it is for men and women today. We have many wonderful promises from God, but we also have many Stearn warnings. Promises of eternal life thru this child that was born and promises of destruction for all who refuse to believe and obey Him. The promise of his first coming was fulfilled, miraculously. The warning and promise of His second coming will also be fulfilled, be ready!!!
