I started looking to see if I could find a miracle associated with the Christmas story in the bible for every day in December. I quickly realized this wouldn't be hard to do. I don't know if you have ever realized all of the miraculous events surrounding the birth of Jesus, but they are numerous. Let's look at one each day of December.
Miracle 29: A sword would pierce Mary's soul
As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul. Luke 2;35
Throughout the Christmas season the theme is joy, light, good times. But that first Christmas season had a backdrop of the opposition that would face Jesus Christ. Simeon even told Mary ahead of time the suffering that would pierce her life because of what Jesus her son would go thru. We know it was all the plan of God to save us. Let's not forget what Jesus has done for us through his suffering, keeping in mind the backdrop of our times. Which is men and women must believe and receive this Saviour or be lost in destruction forever. And certainly, the second appearing of Christ looms large upon our world today.
